Cemetery & churchyard memorial fees

Find headstone permit fees across Rochdale, Bury, Oldham, Rossendale, Greater Manchester and nearby Lancashire. Choose your area below to see charges for new memorials, additional inscriptions, replacements and kerb surrounds.

£140–£367

Published single-headstone permit fees in this guide. This range includes resident and non-resident rates; it excludes double memorials, kerbs and the cost of the stone itself. Some permits may already be included in the grave purchase.
A guide to additional charges: these cemetery or churchyard fees may apply in addition to our memorial work. We will confirm the applicable charges with the authority before finalising your quotation. Fees can change, and not every charge applies to every job. Older or undated figures are clearly labelled as indicative.

Churchyard & Catholic cemetery fees

Church of England churchyards

2026 fees: £179 for an ordinary monument and £39 for an additional inscription. Smaller crosses and cremation tablets have different rates. A replacement memorial needs its own approval; a separate replacement rate is not published in the ordinary table.
Manchester and Blackburn diocesan regulations restrict kerbs. A separate faculty may be needed and is not covered by the ordinary fee. Church of England fee guidance.

St Joseph’s, Moston & St Mary’s, Wardley

These Catholic cemeteries have diocesan charges rather than Manchester or Salford council fees. Please contact us to confirm current headstone, inscription, replacement and kerb fees.

Other churchyards

For Methodist, Baptist, United Reformed and independent churchyards, fees and permissions must be checked with the individual church. We do not apply Church of England rates to other denominations.

Help with your memorial application

Does this include the headstone?

No. These are authority charges. See our new headstones, additional inscriptions and memorial renovation services for the work we can help with.

Is replacing a headstone the same as refitting it?

No. Removing and refitting the same stone is different from installing a new replacement memorial. We check the correct permission for your work.

What does “please contact us” mean?

We have not found a reliable published figure for that particular charge. Where an older or undated published figure is available, we label it indicative. An unlisted fee does not mean the work is free of cemetery or churchyard charges.

Not sure which fee applies?

Send us the cemetery or churchyard name, the grave reference if you have it, and a brief description or photo of the proposed work. We’ll help confirm the requirements.
Guide updated 29 October 2026. These are cemetery or churchyard charges that may be payable in addition to our memorial work, not a quotation. Dates and indicative figures are shown in each section. We confirm applicable fees before finalising your quotation. Grave type, residency, dimensions, cemetery section and permits already paid can affect the total; separate foundation or other authority charges may also apply.
